Maria Fernanda Ortu�o

Mar�a Fernanda Ortu�o Gallud is Tenured Scientist at the Centro de Edafolog�a y Biolog�a Aplicada del Segura (CEBAS) for the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Spain. She received her Ph.D. in Agricultural Chemistry from the University of Murcia. Her research focuses on the optimization of water use in Mediterranean Agrosystems. She has contributed to extending the knowledge on plant-water relationships under abiotic stress conditions, the establishment of deficit irrigation strategies, and irrigation scheduling with sensors in different woody crops. During the last years, she has extended her scientific interest to the search for alternatives to produce high-quality ornamental plants for gardening and landscaping, minimizing the environmental impact due to the sustainable use of water resources. With this, she focuses on the research of the response of different ornamental species to the effect of different irrigation strategies and to the use of non-conventional water for irrigation.
