Cristina M�guas received her PhD in Biology, Plant Ecology and Systematics, from the University of Lisbon in 1997, with a thesis related to Carbon Isotope Discrimination and Gas Exchange in Lichens. Currently she is an Associate Professor of Ecology and Plant physiology at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon (FCUL), and an invited Professor at Campinas and S�o Paulo Universities (Brazil) and in Mozambique Gorongosa Park education program. She is the Coordinator of the Executive Committee of cE3c, President of the European Ecological Federation and Vice president of SPECO. Her research focuses on: i) the functioning of Mediterranean and Tropical vegetation (ecophysiological and ecological approaches); ii) carbon and water fluxes from leaf to ecosystem level; iiI) the application of Stable Isotope Mass Spectrometry to ecosystem and plant functioning, and geographic origin determination (plant products, food chains); iv) the ecological impact of invasive alien plants and development of control methods.
