Maria C. Caldeira is Assistant Professor of Ecology and Ecophysiology at School of Agriculture, University of Lisbon in Portugal. She has received her PhD in Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functioning from Technical University of Lisbon. Maria has broad research interests in the ecosystem functioning and resilience, particularly of Mediterranean ecosystems. Her main interest is to mechanistically understand how woody and herbaceous species function and interact to respond to global change drives such as drought and how this information can help us to manage forest ecosystems for a higher resilience to global changes.
