fingerprint Biography

Christiane Werner is full Professor at University of Freiburg, Ecosystem Physiology, Institute of Geo and Environmental Science. As a plant ecophysiologist by training, she is interested in plant and ecosystem responses to climate change, investigating processes from molecular to ecosystem scale with experimental lab and field work. Core areas of interest are: plant ecophysiology and ecosystem functioning, stress ecophysiology, adaptations to climate change, stable isotope ecology, primary and secondary metabolism, VOC, photoinhibition, respiration, photosynthesis and water relations, ecosystem-atmosphere exchange, ecohydrology, Mediterranean, invasive species, plant and ecosystem interactions, competition, global change. She is editor in Chief of Plant Biology and belongs to the editorial board of Functional Plant Ecology, Scientific Data and Tree Physiology. She has published more than 100 papers and one of her´s current projects is 'ERC- Grant (EU) “Biochemical link between plant volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and CO2 metabolism - from sub-molecular to ecosystem scales VOCO2'.
